I%26#039;m about to get my teeth bleached next week. Today they made the impressions and next week, I will actually start the bleaching process. I paid $200 to get this done. Does it really work? One of my crowns that I had put on from a root canal, didn%26#039;t match my other teeth, so the dentist suggested I get them bleached to match the crown that he put on today. He said that if it doesn%26#039;t work, I may look into getting crowns or veeners. Does it sound like he is after my money or does bleaching really work? The crown is slightly whiter then my other teeth and the dentist said he could send it back without charging me for it so he told me that bleaching would be the best method. I%26#039;m worried that this isn%26#039;t going to work and I will be out $200. Does anyone have any experiece with bleaching and does it work?
Bleaching my teeth from a dentist office.?
The take home trays do not work as well as the in-office bleaching. Plus it may take up to 2 weeks to see any results. I often find myself stopping the bleaching after 3-4 days because I cannot stand the sensitivity that the bleaching causes.
I think you asked a question yesterday about the crown you mention today. The doctor should not charge you to send the crown back to the lab. Like I said yesterday, this was his mistake, not yours. He should take responsibility for his mistake. Sounds like you need to start searching for a new dentist!!
Reply:I%26#039;ve never had my teeth bleached but know people who have and it does work
if you just wanted a new crown and he got the colour wrong then surely he shouldn%26#039;t charge you for his mistake
Reply:The bleaching process usually works very well. However, my concern is with your dentist. Most dentists will match a crown to the surrounding teeth. Or, if you%26#039;ve planned on whitening your teeth, they will have you bleach them first and then match the crown. Be sure that you are happy with the final results. And, don%26#039;t pay for another crown if the color is off because of your dentist!
Reply:Bleaching from a dentists office does work and he should have had you bleach a few weeks before he did the crown so then the crown would have matched your teeth but it should still work the way you are doing it..

Getting that bright smile is a long time pursuit of a lot of people. But using the right products would be fruitless if you don't practice basic dental care. Don't forget to visit your dentist regularly. That can help keep your teeth strong and white.
