Teeth Bleaching-what is a best buy?

I am going in for my front top 6 teeth to get veneers on and my cosmetic dentist suggested to get them bleached first so that all my teeth will be the same shade of white as the veneers. The bleaching kit at the office is $250. Anything cheaper but will get the job done at a good quality? Help!!!

My girlfriend is a dentist and says go with the one at the office. It is a good price and will be controlled so you don%26#039;t overdo it which is very bad for your teeth.

Teeth bleaching options?

I am considering having my teeth bleached at the dentist for my wedding. I have the money, but could also set it aside for the honeymoon instead. Before I spend all that money, I was wondering if anyone has had their teeth bleached at the dentist and if you think it was worth it? How would you compare it to home whitening like crest strips or rembrant? I have tried over the years several of the home whitening kits with small, almost unnoticable results. Usually, the problem is I don%26#039;t have the time or energy to stick to a twice a day programme. Are there any other higher end home bleaching products that deliver results in just one or two applications?

It should be said that my teeth aren%26#039;t that bad, just could be a few shades whiter, especially against my white wedding dress in photos that will be around for the rest of my life.

Thanks!

If you stick with the Whitestrips for the full 30 minutes twice a day, and dont skip any, you will love the results....for a fraction of the cost. I did them before I had porcelian crowns replaced and the dentist said I couldnt have gotten whiter results by professional bleaching. They had to use the whitest porcelain (B1 on the color chip chart) to match the enamel.
Reply:use crest strips! Don%26#039;t bother with paying the dentist. use the $ on other things. Remember you will look great and ppl only want the food! For real!
Reply:i ordered online formular that dentist use, and it comes in a needle like tube. it smarts alittle when you put it on, and if you buy one of those lights for teeth lightening in the drugstore, the total cost is under 50 dollars and it works. it is carbon peroxide 99%. use every day good luck

Bleaching my teeth from a dentist office.?

I%26#039;m about to get my teeth bleached next week. Today they made the impressions and next week, I will actually start the bleaching process. I paid $200 to get this done. Does it really work? One of my crowns that I had put on from a root canal, didn%26#039;t match my other teeth, so the dentist suggested I get them bleached to match the crown that he put on today. He said that if it doesn%26#039;t work, I may look into getting crowns or veeners. Does it sound like he is after my money or does bleaching really work? The crown is slightly whiter then my other teeth and the dentist said he could send it back without charging me for it so he told me that bleaching would be the best method. I%26#039;m worried that this isn%26#039;t going to work and I will be out $200. Does anyone have any experiece with bleaching and does it work?

Bleaching my teeth from a dentist office.?
The take home trays do not work as well as the in-office bleaching. Plus it may take up to 2 weeks to see any results. I often find myself stopping the bleaching after 3-4 days because I cannot stand the sensitivity that the bleaching causes.

I think you asked a question yesterday about the crown you mention today. The doctor should not charge you to send the crown back to the lab. Like I said yesterday, this was his mistake, not yours. He should take responsibility for his mistake. Sounds like you need to start searching for a new dentist!!
Reply:I%26#039;ve never had my teeth bleached but know people who have and it does work

if you just wanted a new crown and he got the colour wrong then surely he shouldn%26#039;t charge you for his mistake
Reply:The bleaching process usually works very well. However, my concern is with your dentist. Most dentists will match a crown to the surrounding teeth. Or, if you%26#039;ve planned on whitening your teeth, they will have you bleach them first and then match the crown. Be sure that you are happy with the final results. And, don%26#039;t pay for another crown if the color is off because of your dentist!
Reply:Bleaching from a dentists office does work and he should have had you bleach a few weeks before he did the crown so then the crown would have matched your teeth but it should still work the way you are doing it..

Teeth bleaching?

from anyone who has done it before...

does it cost alot?

does it work well?

and is it an easy procedure?

thanks!//=]

Teeth bleaching?
Teeth bleaching is great. however, if you have alot of fillings in your front teeth, then don%26#039;t do it. They look weird.

I bleached mine after my braces. I had the plastic trays which was my retainer. So when I went I didn%26#039;t have to pay for the trays to put the bleach in. That%26#039;s what costs you. I did it a few years ago because the dentist had a special going on. You only do it for like two weeks.

But buy some crest whiting and see if it helps. Otherwise try the crest white strips. I didn%26#039;t like them because they didn%26#039;t want to stay on my teeth.

If u use the white strips or if u go to a dentist, just don%26#039;t overdo it. It can damage your teeth in the long run with too much exposure.
Reply:dont got to the dentist and do it IT WAY TO MUCH

get crest night whiteing pretty awesome i got white teeth and 2 weeks

dentist is like 75$ this is 20 for each bottle and you apply the clay to youre moutha nd remove it in the morning

Teeth bleaching???

my friend is having her teeth bleached as they are quite bad from tea/coffee and smoking!!

should she give up smoking??

are they likely to go back to being stained if she does not??

she also drinks alot of tea n coffee

Teeth bleaching???
I had to have my front teeth completely resurfaced. The dentist polished the other ones but said the stains may come back anyway. x
Reply:They dont stay white forever after bleeching although it should permanently remove most the stains she has, yes the teeth will restain if she carries on smoking and stuff.
Reply:Yes if she doesn%26#039;t change her ways she will continue to get stains. Why doesn%26#039;t she go to the Hygenist and get them to give her teeth a good clean?
Reply:Yep give up...she should anyway..yucky things.

drinking tea and coffee will just put the stains straight back and probably worse as the pores in her teeth will be open and absorb the stain more easily.

just keep cleaning after every ciggy or drink if she really cant quit or cut down...eventually the stains will appear agin tho.
Reply:Bleaching is only a temporary measure to get your teeth white. If you carry on eating drinking and smoking exactly as you did before, the problem will just return.
Reply:Your teeth will not stay white if you continue to smoke or drink tea or coffee but she will get great results from it. She will just have to touch up a little more often. Not a big deal!
Reply:Good day XxmeeexX!

Smoking greatly affects teeth discoloration, thus the major cause of teeth stains. And coffee too based on what my dentist told me, not unless you won%26#039;t make it a habit to drink coffee as many times every day. As usual, prevention is better than any cure and so quitting smoking is a preventive measure to avoid teeth discoloration. Teeth bleaching is a no laughing matter so be careful.

You can make use of Maximum Teeth Whitening as your at-home teeth whitener. I and my family use this brand even until now. It really works well.
Reply:they wont stay white if she carries on smoking and drinking caffine drinks. she has to give up all the things you listed...or it will be a waste of time and money!!
Reply:Why pay all that money for something then ruin it by all the things you mention.Tea ,coffee .red wine all stain teeth but smoking not only stains your teeth it causes cancers of the mouth and throat.Sheer madness either give up the cigarettes or don%26#039;t waste her money!!!!

If I go to the dentist to get my teeth bleached....how white can I get them?

Teeth bleaching?
I heard bleaching teeth makes your teeth extra sensitive. How white your teeth can be your dentist will tell you.
Reply:Well, you%26#039;ve seen that one episode of Friends, right?

(for those who don%26#039;t know, Ross%26#039;s incisors glow in the dark...)

It totally depends on the following factors:

1 - the natural shade that your teeth start from. The more natrually yellow/gray/brownish they are, the less white they can get.

2 - how much staining you%26#039;ve got. If you%26#039;re teeth are darkened by smoking, tea, coffee, wine etc, then you should have a dramatic result w/ bleaching.

3 - to some extent, how much you bleach. The best bleaching systems, I believe, send you home w/ a tray so that you can bleach to a satisfactory level. Obviously there%26#039;s a limit, but this is variable. However, the tray is nice cuz you can just toss it back in every few months to %26quot;touch up%26quot; the whitening.

If THAT all doesn%26#039;t get your teeth day-glo -radioactive-RegisPhilbin white WHITE, then fork over the cash for veneers - these are facings the dentist can cement over your front teeth to make them as white (and straight and shapely) as you like.
Reply:It depends on how yellow you teeth are
Reply:The dentist works good but you can do it at home by yourself. Check this free crest white strip offer: http://topherreimroc.com/WhiteStrips

I%26#039;ve done both, and the white strips were cheaper, more conveinant, and less painful.

Teeth Bleaching?

Has anyone ever used a home teeth bleaching kit? And did it work?

Teeth Bleaching?
Yes, I live on the coast and was mistaken for a lighthouse..
Reply:Hi Foxi. I used one that I bought from Boots a few years ago. It did work bu only temporarily. After a couple of weeks it had worn off.

Be careful though, I saw a TV programme a few weeks ago (might have been Watchdog); they were saying that the chemicals can be dangerous and suggested not to use them.
Reply:Yes used ,not that good ,long winded and a mouthache go to the dentist same day not ex amount of weeks.
Reply:if its safe i need it too
Reply:I used a mobile home whitening company.....£99 and it made no difference. I%26#039;m saving for a proper dentist.
Reply:You do realise that it%26#039;ll make you look fake especially if you have a tan. Why not just keep them clean.
Reply:i have and it did not work, i now use the one from the dentist and it is much better
Reply:i paid £300 at my dentist for a teeth whitening kit, i got the gel and a made to fit mould that you need. it worked but it took a while to see any difference and my teeth were very senitive afterwards for a few days.
Reply:Hi Foxi

Go to your dentist to get home whitening. You should have a check up before to ensure there are no cavities and a clean by the hygienist because any plaque on your teeth will stop the enamel below whitening, (patchy result)! Your teeth can become sensitive because they are porous, so you should use a high level fluoride toothpaste during bleaching. Avoid strongly coloured foods during the process - red wine, coffee, curry etc...

It does work but it will always require a top up from time to time.

If you really want to try shop bought product, be careful and use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth, while you are using it, which will have a high fluoride content.

Hope it works.
Reply:These remedies should help. Lemon juice, baking soda or baking powder can also be used for teeth whitening. Rubbing the bark of walnut tree brightens the teeth. Strawberries are natural teeth whiteners, simply rub them directly on your teeth or mash into a paste and apply.More remedies and information regarding your teeth at http://useinfo-dentalcare.blogspot.com/
